The State of Goa is gearing up to celebrate the Goa Food and Cultural Festival 2016. This annual event promises to be a celebration of everything Goan. With an eclectic mix of authentic Goan cuisine and vibrant folklore and heritage, the Goa Food and Cultural Festival 2016 is sure to be as colourful as this small states reputation.

This festival is part of Shigmo. The festivities are held in honour of homecoming warriors, returning to their families following the end of the battle against invaders of Goa.

When and Where is Goa Food and Cultural Festival?

In 2016 the Shigmotsav festivities shall be from March 24 and will culminate on April 7. The Goa Food and Cultural Festival 2016 shall commence during the final days of the festival, from April 6-10, with live music and DJ nights running until 21st April.

The main festival area is located at the D B Bandodkar Ground, Campal, in Panjim, North Goa.

Panijim is the capital of Goa and is easily located from all localities of Goa and the international airport in Dabolim.

The festival is scheduled to be a 5-day extravaganza focused to Goan cuisine with reference to Sea Food. You will find bundles of food stalls from reputable vendors, nearby restaurants, local housewives and even big hotel chains, showcasing a number rich Goan delicacies. In addition to the food stalls, one can enjoy drinks and treats for the whole family. Has dad tried the local Kings beer?

Throughout the over 70 stalls offering up flavours of this amazing place, you can find vegetarian & non vegetarian delicacies, and local traditional or modern sweets, that are much more than the mundane fish-curry Rice.
